Technique

  1. Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, holding dumbbells by your sides, palms facing in.
  2. Keep a slight bend in your elbows, raise both arms to the sides until they're parallel to the floor.
  3. Lower the dumbbells back to the starting position with control.

Form tips

  1. Maintain a neutral spine throughout the exercise, avoiding arching or rounding your back.
  2. Focus on using the shoulder muscles to lift the weights, not momentum or other body parts.
  3. Control the movement, especially during the lowering phase to work the muscles fully.
