Technique

  1. Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, holding a dumbbell in each hand at your sides.
  2. Raise your straight arms out to the sides in a large arc, palms facing forward.
  3. Continue the movement until the dumbbells meet overhead.
  4. Slowly lower them back to the starting position.

Form tips

  1. Maintain a neutral spine and engage your core to avoid arching your back.
  2. Keep the motion slow and controlled.
